GINA GILPIN

Gina joined the MacDonald lab as a PhD student in 2024. She is studying glial cell behaviour during morphogenesis. This is a collaborative project with the Bentley lab at the Francis Crick Institute.
Cells in developmental morphogenesis require feedback from their environment to find their correct positions and establish functional shapes. Both in vivo experiments and custom computational models will be used to characterise dynamic glial-glial and glial-neuronal interactions in the developing zebrafish retina.
Outside of the lab, Gina enjoys exploring London, buying overpriced coffees, and tending to her numerous houseplants.
