Louisa SNAPE

Louisa earned her undergraduate and master’s degrees from the University of Cambridge, before working as a research assistant at the University of Bath. Her master’s thesis involved using zebrafish models of human neurodegenerative disease to investigate ferroptosis-driven cellular death pathology, while at Bath, she worked with zebrafish models to research neural crest development.

She is pursuing her PhD at UCL on the Wellcome Optical Biology programme and has joined the MacDonald lab as a rotation student to further conduct research with fish-based in vivo models concerning neural functionality and degeneration. Here, she will undertake work characterising cell death and glial clearance mechanisms in the novel killifish model of rapid ageing.

In her spare time, Louisa enjoys training for gymnastics competitions and running, or can otherwise be found (far too often) at the theatre.
