About gad1B (glutamate decarboxylase 1b)
gad1b is orthologous to human GAD1 /GAD67(glutamate decarboxylase 1) this enzyme catalyses the decarboxylation of L-glutamic acid to make the inhibitory neurotransmitter gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA). gad1b is expressed in the nervous system in neurons that use GABA as a neurotransmitter.
Expression pattern
gad1b is expressed in GABAergic neurons throughout the nervous system.
